My Experience in Singapore

When i first got my job here in jakarta iwas then immediately sent to Singapore for my training and that's where i actually really felt the real essence of being alone and standing up by yourself amidst the cosmopolitan, busy life, sophisticated and at times not so nice life in Singapore.

Being a Pinoy, Singaporeans would think that you're from a lower class. im not stereotyping, but since most of the domestic  helpers in Singapore are Filipino, then they think that Filipinos are poor and have scant education. i was of course apalled by this. I could not swallow this kind of treatment. Of course not! Filipnos are smart and professional. We work hard and prove ourselves better than any other races.

Since i was the only trainee at that time, and the only Filipino in that school, i may have a few friends but most of the time after my trainig, i find myself alone in the streets of Orchard, shopping in the malls, not to mention that during that time, it was the great Singapore sale. Let's just say, that shopping then had become my outlet of not having somewone to be with, wherever i go.

I had a Filipino housemate. However we had different schedules and we only meet at night or during weekends where we go out shop or eat together.

Singapore is a very nice country, in the sense that it is very clean, very safe and since it is a small country, then everything is accessible. everybody speaks English, so there's nothing to worry about communication. Needless to say, you can go anywhere and ask people when you feel like you're getting lost na.

in Singapore, i have learned not to be scared of life. Because as long as you know who you are, and your capabilities, no matter how discriminating somepeople would be, in the end you will be able to prove your worth to them, and make them realize, that they are wrong with their prejudices.

Mabuhay ang mga Pinoy!

Wow! It's great to be in an unknown place since you  really wake up to what yo are capable of doing. Glad that you are adjusting well to life there.

A lot of Singaporeans, kung tutuusin are very parochial. Makitid at maliit ang mundo nila at di naila alam ang mga sari-saring lahi na nagtatrabaho diyan. Akala nila lahat nfg Pinay ay DH.

exaclty,, that's why Filipinos should continue to show what we are capable of doing. Singaporeans always ask me if i am Indonesian. And i would always correct them that i am a Filipino. And they would always say that, " really? and you're teaching here? whoa! " hmmm..
